Celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’s fifth edition, will no longer be aired on Sony Entertainment. HT Café reported early last month that the channel wasn’t planning to bring the show back. News is that the channel’s close rival, Colors, has bagged the rights for the show and will
bring on air its fifth edition soon.
Dancing diva Madhuri Dixit will continue as the judge on the Indian version of Dancing With The Stars. After shifting her base from Denver, USA to Mumbai late last year, she had confirmed that she was in talks with the show’s makers, and was eventually signed on after Colors closed their deal for the show’s format. Sony Entertainment, the previous broadcaster, ran the show’s first four seasons successfully with stars like Baichung Bhutia, Meiyang Chang, Mona Singh and Prachi Desai winning the contest.
According to industry insiders, Colors had been eyeing the format for a while. The channel is now tweaking it to suit its taste. Talks have been initiated with several probable celebrity contestants. Colors’ spokesperson confirms, “We have acquired the rights of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. It will be produced by BBC Worldwide.
