Japan is situated in region where most dangerous faults are present. The new government decided to think green and provided an idea of building wind farm in Fukushima.
It is expected that project will be commissioned by the year 2015 with a total of 143 wind turbines projected to be erected 16 km from Fukushima by 2020. This new wind farm of Japan is expected to yield more power than worlds current largest wind farm at the Greated Gobbard farm near Suffolk, UK.
The 200 meter-high turbines will be built on floating steel frames stabilized with ballast and anchored to the continental shelf surrounding the Japanese coast. The design and analysis was conducted in University of Tokyo headed by project manager Takeshi Ishihara.
